So much for absolutely promising that Part 2 would be up by the 27th.. I think it is safe to say that I am the one with his foot in his mouth, not Jenny!

I won’t get into lengthy excuses, but I will mention that the recent discoveries on the Giza Plateau led to a very thorough treatment of Mark Lehner’s Pyramid City, which is to be posted in the next few days.

What started as a response to Dr. Lehner’s absence in the media flurry regarding the “Slavery Hypothesis” turned into 30+ pages of review! This has been condensed into a couple of more reasonably sized articles.

This frees me up to get back on top of the Great Pyramid, so to speak. I want to have the full Hemienu to Houdin series online in time for the new stories Jean-Pierre will be dropping this Spring. I can only say that the news looks big and I want to be ready to run once he hands me the ball!

That is to say…I respect your electronic writings (heavens, I publish them too!) LOL Sorry for having put my foot in my mouth just then.

I have a question for you: will there be a webcast of Dr. Brier’s lecture–at the very least, an audio recording posted somewhere afterward? I would very much love to listen in on his lecture. Work, school and Egyptology will be keeping me from hoping on the next flight from Chicago to NY to catch his lecture

I wait with great anticipation for part 2 of your series, drawn with ravenous hunger for more knowledge. You are so lucky to have the inside scoop on future publications! Needless to say, I’m very jealous indeed. I mean, my goodness, you have a comment from Jean-Pierre Houdin himself! (Being so, I must say a very respectful “Bonjour” to M. Houdin, ending with “Je suis très heureuse de faire votre connaissance.”) You can be sure I’ll be posting your pearls of wisdom on my blog. I have a few Egyptology students on there who will be very appreciative of them.

M. Houdin – I still can’t get over it!

Speaking of whom, I have a funny story for you: I just realized the other day that I bought another copy of Drs. Brier and Houdin’s book – one when it came out in hardcover and a few days ago in paperback. I certainly don’t mind the little gaff. It only goes to show that it is becoming very hard for me to find books on Egyptology, as I have many of them on my bookcase already and have read them all…which is the reason I love coming here and to other places on the web – the dissemination of Egyptology News is quickly available, more so than when someone publishes their findings in book form. Then again, I appreciate peer-reviewed works. They smack more of authority.

California dreaming, on such a winter’s day, eh? Your sabbatical is much deserved—as far as I know this is the first time I have heard of you taking a break. But then, as you have stated on several occasions, when your work and your passion are the same thing then you have the best of all worlds.

I had suspected that the angle of the external ramp had to do with the terrain, and by the time Part 2 of Hemienu to Houdin is posted, we will all know the specifics!

I am very excited to report on your new project. The hints you have dropped remind me that I need to really get the current series wrapped up. I have a suspicion that it will provide a good foundation for your continuing work.

As for Em Hotep’s readers, rest assured that we will stay on top of Jean-Pierre’s work. I am also working to get as direct a source as possible on Dr. Bob Brier’s speaking schedule, not just with regard to his work with Jean-Pierre, but with all aspects of his work.

Despite the snow, I can already feel a spring breeze, blowing from Giza, perhaps?

As for the angle of the external ramp towards the SouthWest of the pyramid (your last e-mail…), Hemiunu did that to stick with the topography of the Plateau and for… a second reason I discovered a few weeks ago. This discovery will be disclosed later on this year and will bring a new understanding about 3 things highly visible on the Plateau…
