The Fifteenth Dynasty ran concurrent with the Fourteenth and Seventeenth Dynasties, and possibly some straggling elements of the Thirteenth Dynasty. A dynasty of foreign invaders from northern Syria, the Hyksos were strongest in Lower Egypt, having established their capitol in Avaris—the same as Ay I, the last pharaoh of the Thirteenth Dynasty to rule a united Egypt.
They ruled primarily from the delta region. The most important Hyksos rulers appear below. Due to the confusion of this period, all dates are approximate and may overlap.
